Perry is born July 25, 1968 in Chicago In Illinois, she was the child of Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. On the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as shown in flashback) Her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's early TV appearances. The actress did not go on to explore acting as a profession until after she had reached adulthood, as her parents were worried about the detrimental effects that stress could have. Perry states that she did not want to be an actor in high school, but she decided to begin performing as a form of social interaction at Northwestern University when she switched from Boston University. Perry following her graduation from Boston University, relocated to New York in search of acting roles on television. Her small part was in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, homesickness brought her back to California in search of theater jobs. She appeared on Broadway with her mother in The Other Place with her mother in 2013. In the year 2015, she was with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer-winning Drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry played a role in 9 episodes of the ABC crime thriller The Family in 2016. She had a regular role in the ABC political drama Scandal that starred her dad. Also, she was cast on The CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger of Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. Despite the fact that she has a connection with her family to the character, she was offered the role through an audition.
